Hear Ye Hear Ye……..Two Green and Sustainability Events Coming Up

We have two really exceptional and worthy events coming up in the Green and sustainability world which I would like you to become better familiar with and hopefully attend.

The first one, the 2015 Tri-State Sustainability Symposium, will be Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Temple Performing Arts Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

I had the opportunity to attend this event last year and was impressed with the scope of Green and sustainability issues addressed and the caliber of the many presenters. This symposium brings together industry, university, and community leaders sharing best practices and providing cutting-edge information about Green and sustainability topics such as Net Zero, water conservation, Green leasing, commercial real estate, and renewable energy.

While this is a regional event, with most of the nearly 1,000 attendees and many presenters from the Pennsylvania, Delaware Valley, and New Jersey area, this conference would be beneficial to everyone focused on making facilities and our world Greener and more sustainable.

The following presenters will be at this event:

Breakfast:

  • Anthony E. Malkin, Chairman, CEO, and President of Empire State Realty Trust
  • Judy Wicks, local entrepreneur, activist, and author of award-winning memoir Good Morning, Beautiful Business: the Unexpected Journey of an Activist Entrepreneur and Local Economy Pioneer.

Lunch:

  • Emily Allen of the award-winning design firm Dekker/Perich/Sabatini who will be speaking on the intersection of sustainability, design and technology
  • Michele N. Siekerka, former Assistant Secretary of NJ DEP and current President of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, discussing how to connect business and sustainability

The other event coming up, the National Facilities Management and Technology (NFMT) Conference and Expo, is more for facility managers and those in charge of building, managing, renovating, and maintaining nonresidential facilities; however, I believe anyone focused on Green and sustainability issues will find it valuable.

This is a free event and will be held March 10-12, 2015, in Baltimore, Maryland. The conference has been developed by the editorial and educational teams from Building Operating Management and Facility Maintenance Decisions magazines, two publications that I respect and that have made a major contribution to helping building owners and managers operate their facilities in a more efficient, cost-effective, Green, and sustainable manner.

NFMT has sessions addressing scores of issues critical to facility management, including a presentation by yours truly. My talk, entitled “Innovative Green Cleaning Technologies That Save Money,” will address new cleaning technologies that not only are proving effective but are safer for people and the environment as well as a cost savings for building owners.

This video provides more information on NFMT along with many reasons to attend.

I hope you can attend one or both of these events. There is always new information and a lot to learn. We have to remember that there is no endpoint when it comes to Green and sustainability issues. It’s a journey that keeps moving forward, which is what makes it so exciting for me and for all of us who want to make this world a healthier place for future generations to live in.

Take care and talk to you soon.
