Bloomington, IN – Snow piles have grown across the United States as an arctic chill and winter storms brought plunging temperatures and winter conditions to major portions of the country. Such conditions can wreak havoc on small and large businesses alike and send operating costs such as fuel and energy through the roof.
To help distributors manage these costs, ISSA and Sustainability Dashboard Tools, LLC will present a Distributor Efficiency Analytics & Learning (DEAL) program webinar, December 16, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. EST. This session will outline specific ways distributors can keep winter weather from negatively impacting their operating costs.
Presenters will include Clark Reed, program manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR program, and a representative from a major transportation leasing service.
“Winter is coming, and that means it’s a good time to protect your profits from disappearing into cold air,” Reed says. “Reducing energy waste ought to be on everyone’s mind because you can easily stop it from happening in your warehouse if you take the time now to schedule preventative maintenance, insulate and seal to prevent leaks, and adjust lighting schedules for shorter days.”
Distributors will learn how to:
- Measure and monitor fuel, water, and energy consumption
- Prevent heat loss via windows and doors
- Ensure company vehicles, especially diesel-powered trucks, operate efficiently in cold weather
- Keep safe when employees may want to bring in space heaters and driving conditions can be treacherous
- Implement preventative maintenance to ensure no fleet drivers are left out in the cold.
“Since winter presents unique obstacles, this webinar will focus on actions distributors can take right now to reduce energy and fuel consumption and, along with it, costs,” says Jon Adkins, director of market research and analytics at ISSA. “Fortunately, there are many opportunities for companies to do so.”
